That day in 1999 Hatsumi Sensei asked me to choose a group of buyu to participate in the first dvd to be made only by foreign instructors. For that purpose, us friends from Portugal, Argentina, Spain and The United Kingdom followed the Soke’s instructions.

The foundations, the kihon happo, provided the encounter with sobriety. His actions were incredibly precise and sagacious, and his kuden went beyond the barrier of space - time.
What was the essence of that encounter?
It was to open a channel of communication through the basic techniques, the basic, the essential. Remaining in that channel is our personal job. It is shown to us that the way of the budoka is a path one has to face for oneself, sometimes very alone, but sometimes in much company and in harmony with nature. And I repeat harmony - wa - because it is absolutely necessary for us as practitioners of budo - martial arts - to live in harmony with nature, and that irremediably entails living in harmony with other human beings.
